geoipdns-conf currently generates run files in the daemontools tradition. runit support is planned but a workaround is now available in the docs.
http://www.whatsmydns.net/ is a handy tool for seeing how various DNS servers around the net see you. Try geotest.rnd.bandwidth.com as an example.
Wejn contributed an optimized GeoLiteCity ruby script which has no dependancy on "cidr.pl". This massively speeds up the conversion process resulting in over 34,000 records per second on modest hardware.
